The Forest Lakes Metropolitan District (FLMD) is responsible for water and wastewater services, drainage, parks and trails, landscaping and streetlight services for the three Pinon Pines Metropolitan Districts. FLMD provides water service from two Denver Basin wells, a well-head treatment plant, and from the surface water treatment plant which accesses surface water stored in Bristlecone Reservoir. By summer of 2023, there will also be another Denver Basin well online. FLMD jointly owns a wastewater treatment plant with Donala Water & Sanitation District and Triview Metropolitan District – the Upper Monument Creek Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility. That plant is closely monitored by the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. FLMD is a “political subdivision” of the State of Colorado and is governed by an elected board of directors. The Pinon Pines Metropolitan Districts are also public entities with elected boards of directors.
