Water Shortage Notice

NOTICE

FOREST LAKES METROPOLITAN DISTRICT

STAGE I WATER SHORTAGE PROVISIONS

EFFECTIVE JULY 24, 2020

Due to the continued hot and dry conditions and the very low flows in Beaver Creek, effective July 24, 2020 Stage I Water Shortage Provisions will be enacted. These provisions basically are voluntary and ask all water users to be prudent in their outdoor usage of water – limiting outdoor watering to three days per week and not watering during the hottest hours of the day.

Many local water providers have adopted year-round voluntary water usage guidelines. Colorado Springs Utilities Water-Wise Rules – at the link below – provide good educational material on prudent outdoor watering practices and sprinkler systems settings.

We will continue to monitor water usage and the water level in Bristlecone and may ask the District Board to enact Stage II restrictions if lake levels continue to fall.

Please don’t hesitate to call or email me with questions or concerns.
